Keep on Keeping on

Just because it is winter doesn't mean you can't walk, run or exercise. But here is a few tips:
Dress warm including hat and gloves. Layers work well. Wear shoes or boots with good traction because the winter can get icy. If it is rainy, too cold or too icy out do you exercising inside. You can always put on your favorite music and dance.

Most importantly remember to stay active! And how about asking for running clothes, sport stuff, or exercise mat for Christmas?

I was there watching as hundred of eager runners crossed the finish line! Everyone got a medal and all deserved it for the hard work and stick-to-it attitude. Now keep up the healthy way of running, exercising and eating!

Running with Rushabout RR

I run in the morning with Rushabout RR (Road Runner). He is very fast. I clocked him at running 17 miles per hour, whew! I am quick (I can duck down into my burrow if there is trouble) but with my little short legs I am not really fast but I keep trying because running or scampering is good exercise and it is fun. Running with Rushabout has improved my speed plus it great having a friend. Maybe you have a friend or friends you can run or walk with or maybe you can join a track team. I say the more the merrier.

Home Sweet Home!

Let me tell you about my home. I am one lucky Prairie Dog! I live in the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge. Our town is only a small part of this 60,000 acre beauty spot. Our neighbors are Texas Longhorn cattle. Bison, elk, deer, coyotes, red-tailed hawks, turkey, bunch grasses, postoak and blackjacks.

Every morning when I arise from my burrow I see the mountains and grassy plains. I live in a colony with many, many other prairie dogs friends and family. I like the morning hours to be out and scamper about. Tourists come all the time. Not just to see us but I’ve heard it said that Prairie Dogs are the favorites especially among kids. But don’t tell the buffalo they think they are the favorites. Anyway, here’s a rare picture of me stretching before I scamper that one of the tourist took.
